What Is My Veteran Buddy?

Our Mission, Our Meaning, and Our Method

Mission Statement

My Veteran Buddy exists to rebuild the sense of brotherhood and structure veterans once had in the military. We’re on a mission to empower every veteran to regain control, reconnect with purpose, and restore balance in civilian life.

What Is a Veteran Buddy?

A Veteran Buddy is more than a friend — they’re a trusted ally who stands beside you. The “Battle Buddy” system ensures no veteran ever walks alone. Together, we support, guide, and strengthen one another through shared experience and service.

Pipeline to Stand Up a Command

Our 4-phase pipeline helps veterans transition from individuals seeking stability to leaders building local commands — uniting citizens and veterans to restore strength and service in every community.

4 Phase Pipeline to Stand Up a Command

Our step-by-step structure to empower veterans to lead their communities.

Phase 1 – Commanding Officer

Identify and appoint a committed veteran leader ready to build a local command.

Phase 2 – Veteran Help

Connect with veterans in need, assess their challenges, and begin the Fit for Full Duty process.

Phase 3 – Veteran Officers / Volunteers

Recruit and train supporting officers and volunteers to expand community impact.

Phase 4 – Maintenance

Keep the command active with regular check-ins, events, and mission reviews.

Personal Bio

My name is Rick Percoco. I am someone who loves my country and the freedom in which it provides. I, like many others, have been watching the decay of America and I can no longer stand idly by and watch this happen. This is why I have founded My Veteran Buddy. This is my main mission at this point in my life. I will NOT be the generation that causes America to fall, but rather I will be the reason why America gets back on track. I am a proud God fearing Christian who believes Jesus Christ is my lord and savior. I am Gods hands and feet and everything I do in to glorify him.

Military Bio

I served in the United States Navy from 2003-2007. I served as an Aviation Ordnanceman for the F-14/D Tomcat squadron VF-213. I went on one deployment in 2005-06 as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. This was the last ever deployment for the infamous “TopGun” jet before the Navy decommissioned them from service. We switched over to the F/A-18F Super Hornets in 2006.

Cancer Battle

In February 2021 I was diagnosed with stage 2 squamous cell carcinoma voice box cancer. I had a tumor that was blocking 95% of my airway and had to have emergency surgery to remove it, followed by 6 weeks of radiation treatment. I was able to get this cancer successfully approved by the VA as being service connected to my military service. This helped me obtain a 100% VA disability rating.
